Philemon 1:20b – “Let me have joy of thee in the Lord”
I was excited to be able to speak to Arusa this month as he came into Daru for a both a meeting and supplies. He texted me and I immediately called him back so that I could hear his voice. Many of you know that the cellular service in Wipim is virtually nonexistent and so this was a rare treat to speak with him. He had mentioned to me that the church in Wipim is doing very well and growing, they had seen four more saved and baptized, additionally they are maintaining their level of Bible School students. Arusa told me the church in Podare lead by Joey Busi is also doing well and they are seeing people saved. He made mention that there is unity currently amongst the churches and that they have been traveling into both Melbia and Wonie villages to minister to many who have become Christians or already were. For Amy and I to hear from Arusa and hear the status of the church has been a blessing and encouragement of fruit that continues to both yours and our account. Thank you for your faithfulness in prayers and support towards these eternal rewards as together we reach unto the Uttermost.
Arawa, Bougainville Land Update…
I have been in contact over the last month with several groups as we continue to seek land to build a church in Arawa. One group will vote this month to allow Central Bougainville Baptist up to 2 acres of land as a sub-lease to build upon. This particular land is a open slate with no buildings upon it and would give us a chance to design the layout of the property. The other property is held in title by another church that has not been in Arawa for over 28 years and that property has 2 older buildings on it, which need to be remodeled. This church has asked for me to write and explain who we are and our purpose with the land and what we would do with it. They will be meeting next month to vote if they might sub-lease the land to us to use for the remainder of their lease of this land or to transfer title to us. Please keep in prayer these two lands, for God to choose which He might prefer. We were able to secure a residential house to live in within Arawa Town and if nothing else we can start a church under this house (all houses are on posts in Arawa) if needed to begin with.
Amy and I cannot say, “Thank You” enough for what each of you do for us. Your vision to reach the World through Christ and entrusting us with your sacrifices to do our part, on your behalf, is humbling. This month we received a check of $11,000 from a supporting church in Mississippi to put towards either land and/or a building. Depending on what property we get this money will go towards the remodel or will help to start a building on the other property we could honestly use five or six more churches just like the one in Mississippi if you might consider this. I have had several teams offer to come help us build once we secure land and would ask you to pray with us not just for the land, but the resources in which to build upon them remembering there has been no church Gospel witness in almost 30 years here and everything will be started from scratch just like a church plant in America would be of which many of you have experienced personally.
And finally, yes finally… we have a departure date!
Amy and I can see the end of “Furlation” and reporting to our supporting churches. We will be purchasing our tickets this month to return to Bougainville, Papua New Guinea and Arawa in January of 2018. We are busy purchasing the many items needed for establishing a new church in Arawa and excited to start working amongst the people to bring Light to a place so long without any. We are currently at 94% of our needed support and will present in 6 more new churches before we leave and 3 churches we have been in considering us still for support 100% is possible.
Thank you for your faithful prayers and investment in our family and ministry.
